  • Wicanders Fold Down floors are intended for indoor use only;
  • Store planks at room temperature (well ventilated area) for at least 48 hours in its original package;
  • Remove plastic wrapping only when ready to install;
  • The room temperature should be between 18ºC and 28ºC (65ºF to 82ºF) and the relative humidity between 35% and 65%. These conditions should be maintained during and after the installation period;
  • The subfloor must be even, flat, dry and variations should not exceed 3mm in 2m (0.12” in 6.6 feet);
  • If using radiant-heated subfloors the surface temperature of the subfloor must not exceed 28ºC (82ºF) or 20-22ºC in the case of using rugs or mats placed on the top of the floor;
  • Inspect the tiles/planks in daylight for any visible faults or damage;
  • Shuffle the tiles in order to obtain the most pleasant blend of shades;
  • Make sure that the expansion gaps are minimum 5mm (0.2”) to 10mm (0.4”) and do not install any permanent and heavy structures like kitchen islands or cabinets on top of Fold Down Floors. These requirements can be avoided, if Wicanders Fold Down Floors are installed as a glue down (see glue down installation instructions for floating floors).

Transport, storage and acclimatization

The cartons should be transported horizontally and the tiles should be acclimatized at the job site 48 hours prior to installation.
The temperature should be kept in a range between 18ºC and 28ºC (65ºF to 82ºF) and relative humidity from 35% to 65% during storage and installation.

Site inspection

Inspect the tiles in daylight for any visible faults or damage and also check the subfloor and site conditions.

Subfloor requirements

Wicanders floating floors can be installed in most domestic areas and in almost all commercial areas except in bathrooms, saunas and persistently wet rooms.
The subfloor must be even, flat, dry and variations should not exceed 3mm in 2m (0.12" in 6.6 feet) and the temperature on the subfloor, when using radiant heated subfloor, should not exceed 28ºC (82ºF).

Moisture protection

Subfloors must be permanently dry on concrete subfloors without radiant heat. Consider the maximum humidity less than 75% RH or conduct calcium chloride moisture tests to ensure that moisture emission levels are less than 3lbs/1000ft2/24 hours (USA and Canada), or CM Test: concrete (1,5% heated-2,0% non-heated), anhydrite (0,3% heated-0,5% non-heated).
Use a PE moisture barrier film with a minimum thickness of 0.2mm (0.08”).
On ground and basement subfloors we recommend to lay 2 layers crossways for better moisture protection.
